São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the interior of southwestern China, southern Sichuan, China is not an independent country, but an important geographic region of Sichuan Province. The region is dominated by mountainous terrain and a subtropical monsoon climate, and encompasses the core cities of Panzhihua, Luzhou, and Yibin, which are key components of the Upper Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Southern Sichuan is rich in hydroelectric and mineral resources, with several large hydropower stations built in the Jinsha and Yalong River basins. Tropical fruits such as lychee and longan are abundant here, and the liquor industry is famous both in China and abroad, with Yibin Wuliangye and Luzhou Laojiao being born here. The Chengdu-Guizhou high-speed railway and the Yangtze River waterway form an important transportation network.
The region is a blend of Han, Yi, Miao and other multi-ethnic cultures, with unique folk activities such as the Torch Festival. National geoparks such as the Shunan Bamboo Sea and the Xingwen Stone Sea showcase the wonders of karst landscapes, while historical sites such as the ancient town of Lizhuang and the hanging coffins of the Bo people carry a deep humanistic heritage.
