São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
McCracken is a small city in Rush County, Kansas, United States, located in the north-central region of the state. With a population of about 150 according to the 2020 Census, it is a typical rural Midwestern American community.
McCracken is located along Kansas Highway 83, about 15 miles from Lakota, the county seat of Rush County. The city was founded in the 1880s and sprang up with the extension of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, taking its name from early railroad officials. The area is characterized by flat prairie terrain and an agricultural economy.
As a typical rural Kansas town, McCracken's economy is based on agriculture, with wheat, corn, and other crops grown, and numerous family farms located in the surrounding area. The community retains a traditional Midwestern lifestyle with a small infrastructure of schools, churches, and community centers, reflecting the peaceful atmosphere of small town America.
Residents of McCracken enjoy a low-density living environment with community activities centered around school sporting events and traditional festivals. The proximity to the famous Kansas Flint Hills Natural Area provides an abundance of outdoor recreational activities. Although the town is small, it maintains close-knit neighborhoods and exhibits the typical cultural characteristics of a rural American community.
