São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Mbabane is the capital and largest city of Swaziland (now known as Eswatini), a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, located in the western foothills of the Mdimba Mountains at an altitude of about 1,200 meters. As the political, economic and cultural center of the country, Mbabane is known for its mild climate and green mountain scenery.
The city has a concentration of government agencies, foreign embassies and major commercial facilities, and boasts educational institutions such as the University of Eswatini. The economy is dominated by the sugar processing, textile and timber industries, and the surrounding area is rich in citrus, cotton and other agricultural products. The annual Reed Dance Festival is an important traditional cultural event in Swaziland.
Mbabane is connected by road to South Africa and Mozambique, and the city is served by Manzini International Airport. A mix of traditional villages and modern architecture can be seen around the city, and the nearby Mlivana Game Reserve and Malolosa Nature Reserve are popular destinations for eco-tourism.
As the administrative hub of Eswatini, Mbabane is gradually being modernized, while retaining a strong Swazi heritage and culture, making it an important window on the country's history and contemporary development.
