São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Mascot is an unincorporated community, not an independent city, in King and Queen County, Virginia, United States. It is located in eastern Virginia, about an hour's drive from the capital city of Richmond, and is a typical rural town.
Located on the north bank of the York River, Mascotte is surrounded by dense forests and farmland in a beautiful and tranquil natural environment. It has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons for outdoor activities.
Mascotte has a long history and takes its name from an early local family. The community is small and sparsely populated, retaining a traditional southern rural feel. Residents live a relaxed pace of life with a focus on farming and commuting to nearby cities for work.
While Mascotte itself has limited commercial amenities, the historic cities of Williamsburg and Yorktown are within driving distance. The local area is characterized by family farms, fishing and nature trails, making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful country life.
