São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Maastricht, the capital of the province of Limburg in the south of the Netherlands, is located on the border between the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, with a history of more than 2,000 years. The old town retains its medieval walls, cobblestone streets and Romanesque buildings, such as St. Severende Church and Freedom Square, exuding a strong historical flavor. As an important node of the European Cultural Corridor, it hosts the annual European Culture Festival, and Maastricht University (the oldest university in the Netherlands) injects academic vitality into the city. The Maas River passes through the city, the scenery along the coast is beautiful, and the local specialty, Limburg Pie Cake, is an unmissable taste bud experience. Thanks to its unique location and multiculturalism, Mahlaten is an important hub for Western Europe, attracting tourists and investors from all over the world.
