São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the southwest of Guangdong Province, Maoming is an important coastal city in the west of Guangdong Province, bordering the South China Sea. As the "Southern Oil City", the petrochemical industry is the pillar of the economy, while relying on favorable climatic conditions, the production of lychee, longan and other tropical fruits is abundant, enjoying the reputation of "China's Lychee Township". Maoming has a long coastline, China's first beach, Fugitive Island and other coastal tourism resources to attract tourists, such as New Year's Eve and other folk culture is unique. In recent years, Maoming has been actively promoting industrial upgrading and ecological construction, striking a balance between industrial development and green livability, and is an important node connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone in western Guangdong.
