São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the central part of Hunan Province, China, Lianyuan is a county-level city with a long history under the jurisdiction of Loudi City. It is located in the hilly area of central Hunan, with the Zishui River running through the city and a beautiful natural environment, with agriculture, minerals and tourism as the economic pillars. Known as the "Pearl of Central Hunan", Lianyuan is rich in coal resources and is one of the important energy bases in China.
Lianyuan has a rich cultural heritage and is one of the important birthplaces of Hunan culture, known for its traditional folklore and red history. Tourist attractions include the Meijiang Scenic Area, Longshan National Forest Park and the former residence of Zeng Guofan, attracting tourists to experience the natural scenery and human history. Local cuisines such as Lianyuan Rice Vermicelli and farmhouse dishes are also quite distinctive.
In recent years, Lianyuan has been actively promoting industrial upgrading, focusing on new energy and eco-tourism to promote sustainable development. Conveniently located, it is connected to major cities in Hunan Province by a network of roads and railroads, contributing to the region's economic growth. Lianyuan is gradually developing into an important nodal city in central Hunan.
