São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Lianghe County is located in the western part of China's Yunnan Province, under the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, at the southern end of the Hengduan Mountains, bordering Myanmar, and is a typical border multi-ethnic settlement area. With an area of about 1,159 square kilometers and a population of about 170,000, the county is characterized by the cultures of the Dai, Jingpo, Achang and other ethnic minorities. The climate of Lianghe belongs to subtropical monsoon type, with an average annual temperature of 18°C, abundant rainfall and rich natural resources, producing tea, sugar cane and tropical fruits.
Lianghe has a long history and is an important channel of the Southern Silk Road. It has cultural relics protection units such as the Nandian Xuanfusi Department, which shows the unique style of Tusi culture. There are many local ethnic festivals, such as the Water Splashing Festival and the Megnao Zong Song Festival, which attract tourists to experience the original folklore. The economy is based on agriculture and tourism, but in recent years, relying on the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, border trade and eco-tourism have gradually developed, making it a special county with potential in western Yunnan.
