São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Lao Cai, the capital of Vietnam, is located in the northwestern part of the country, bordering Hekou County of China's Yunnan Province, and is an important border city and transportation hub of Vietnam. It is famous for its rich mineral resources, and at the same time, relying on the advantages of the border, it has become an important node for trade exchanges between China and Vietnam. The natural scenery around Lao Cai is beautiful, the Sabah terraces are picturesque in all seasons, and the limestone landscapes and caves of Ban Yodong Shang National Park attract tourists from all over the world. The local area is a blend of Vietnam's multi-ethnic cultures, with French colonial architecture and ethnic minority traditions intertwined to form a unique humanistic landscape. As the gateway to Sabah and Hanoi, Lao Cai is not only an economically active border city, but also a must-visit place to experience the flavor of Northwest Vietnam.
