São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Kampong Sarar, located in Brunei Mora District, about 15 kilometers from the capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan, is one of the typical traditional villages in Brunei. The village retains the characteristics of traditional Brunei water and land settlements, and some houses are still built in the form of stilted houses, demonstrating the local people's way of life in accordance with nature. The village is surrounded by lush greenery, peaceful and quiet, and the residents make a living from fishing, handicrafts and agriculture, living at a leisurely pace. In recent years, with the modernization and development of Brunei, Kampong Salar has gradually integrated infrastructure, such as roads, water and electricity, while focusing on the preservation of traditional culture and regularly organizing traditional festivals to attract tourists to experience Brunei's local culture. This place is both a microcosm of Brunei's rural life and a window to observe how tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously in Brunei.
