São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the northeastern part of Liaoning Province, China, under the jurisdiction of Tieling City, Kaiyuan is situated at the junction of the Songliao Plain and the remnants of the Changbai Mountains. As an important county-level city in northern Liaoning, Kaiyuan has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of Manchu culture, with the military town of "Sanwanwei" established in the Ming Dynasty. The area is rich in cultural heritage, such as the Chongshou Temple Pagoda and other monuments.
Modern Kaiyuan is an important food production base in Northeast China, famous for corn and rice cultivation, as well as well-developed equipment manufacturing and agricultural products processing industries. The transportation network is perfect, with the Harbin-Dalian High Speed Railway and the Beijing-Harbin Expressway running through the whole territory. The Kaiyuan Egret Island Provincial Nature Reserve has become a highlight of ecotourism, attracting a large number of tourists every year to view heron colonies.
The city is a perfect blend of deep historical heritage and modern development, showing the unique charm of a small city in Northeast China.
