Overview of Sao Tome and Principe (note on "Java")

São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.

Jovianos, Cuba: a classic Caribbean beach destination

Located in the northern part of the province of Pinar del Río, Cuba, Jovianos (Varadero) is one of the best-known beach towns in the Caribbean, about 140 kilometers from the capital, Havana. This peninsular city is famous for its 20 kilometers of white sandy beaches and clear blue waters, and is known as the "Hawaii of Cuba". Founded in 1519 as a trading port during the Spanish colonial period, Jovianos still retains some of its colonial buildings and historical sites. Not only is it a vacation destination, but it also attracts visitors with an abundance of water sports (such as scuba diving and sailing) and passionate salsa music, as well as local cuisine that combines the flavors of Spain with those of the Caribbean, such as roasted pork and paella served with rum, which is a true Cuban experience. Every year tourists from all over the world come to enjoy the sun, sand and unique cultural experiences.
