São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Jiguan is a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, China, located in the heart of the Northeast Asian Economic Circle and bordering Russia. As the political, economic and cultural center of Jixi, the area is famous for its coal resources and is one of the important energy bases in China. With a total area of about 1,444 square kilometers and a population of about 330,000, the jurisdiction has a temperate continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons.
The terrain of Jiguan District is mainly plains and hills, with the Muling River running through the whole area and high forest coverage. In addition to coal, it also contains graphite, silica and other mineral resources. Agriculture is based on the cultivation of corn and soybeans, while industry is based on energy, machinery manufacturing and food processing.
The area is home to educational institutions such as Jixi University, air services are provided by Xingkai Lake Airport, and a network of high-speed railways and highways connects to major cities such as Harbin. The local culture is a blend of Manchu, Korean and other ethnic minority characteristics, and winter ice and snow tourism and border trade are the highlights of its development.
