São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Itajaí, located on the Atlantic coast of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, is an important port city and tourist destination in Brazil, known as the "Gateway Port of Brazil". Centered around the mouth of the Itaji River, the city combines bustling port trade with stunning coastal scenery - beaches such as Brava Beach are popular for surfing and sunbathing because of their fine stretches and crystal clear waters; and the subtropical oceanic climate is mild throughout the year, attracting tourists from all over the world. Itaqui has a strong fishing culture, with fresh seafood as the local gastronomic label, and the city comes alive every September with the "Festival of the Port", a traditional song and dance festival with a gastronomic feast. As one of the economic hubs of the state of Santa Catarina, Itaqui combines the bustle of a modern port with the purity of nature, making it an ideal place to experience the Brazilian seaside.
