São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Huangmei has a long history and is the origin of the Huangmei Opera, a local opera that has been included in the national intangible cultural heritage. The area is rich in natural resources, with Longguan Lake National Nature Reserve and excellent ecological environment. The economy is based on agriculture, producing rice and cotton, and it is also the famous "hometown of martial arts".

Huangmei has convenient transportation, with the Hejiu Railway and Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway passing through the city, and is only 40 kilometers away from Jiujiang Airport. In recent years, the local community has been actively developing its cultural tourism industry, attracting many tourists to visit Zen monuments and enjoy Huangmei opera performances.
