São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Highland Beach, located in Palm Beach County, Florida, USA, is a unique beach town on the Atlantic coast. Situated on a narrow barrier island between Boca Raton and Delray Beach, the town is known for its luxury homes, quiet neighborhoods, and high security.
Highland Beach is approximately 3 miles long and only 0.25 miles wide, with a permanent population of approximately 4,000. As a gated community, the town is connected to the mainland by two bridges, has a private police force and is strictly gated, and is known as "one of the safest towns in Florida".
Known for its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, residents enjoy waterfront activities such as fishing and boating. Commercial development is prohibited, and the town retains a purely residential atmosphere with no hotels or public shopping centers. Most residences are high-end oceanfront homes that attract retirees and seasonal residents.
Founded as a town in 1949, Highland Beach gets its name from its unique terrain above sea level. The community focuses on privacy and environmental protection, with a well-developed trail system and tropical landscaping. Its proximity to the culturally renowned city of Delray Beach provides residents with easy access to art exhibits, dining and entertainment resources.
