São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, Greensboro is the county seat of Guilford County and the third largest city in the state. The historic city is known for the Greensboro Sit-In of 1960, an important milestone in the U.S. civil rights movement, and today there is a memorial to the Sit-In in downtown that bears witness to the history of the struggle for equality. As a key part of the Research Triangle Park, Greensboro has a vibrant economy with biotechnology, advanced manufacturing and innovation industries based on top research institutions such as Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The city boasts quality educational resources such as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), as well as an abundance of cultural venues and green space parks, making it highly livable. Conveniently located within an hour's drive of Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the city continues to showcase the South's blend of modern charm and heritage as it attracts businesses and residents to relocate to the area.
