São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Gisenyi is an important city in Rwanda's Western Province, situated on the north-eastern shore of Lake Kivu, bordering the Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and is one of Rwanda's main land crossings with neighboring countries. Known for its lakeside landscape and mild climate, this city is known for its tranquil lakeside views and the clear waters of Lake Kivu against the surrounding green mountains, which attracts tourists to come and explore. As a center of border trade, Gisenyi has a vibrant commercial scene, with local fishermen featuring fresh lake fish and markets full of life. Historically, Gisenyi has played an important role in Rwanda's reconstruction and development, and today it is becoming a bright calling card for western Rwanda with its charming blend of peace, ecology and economy.
