São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the northern part of the state of Colorado in the United States, Fort Collins is the county seat of Larimer County and is about 100 kilometers away from Denver, the state capital. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of about 1,525 meters above sea level, the city is known for its breathtaking natural beauty and mild climate.
Fort Collins is home to Colorado State University, a research university that has infused the city with a youthful energy. The economy is dominated by education, high technology and manufacturing, with technology companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Avnet having major bases here. Also, Fort Collins is an important center for Colorado's craft beer industry.
The city is known for its vibrant cycling culture, with over 480 kilometers of bike paths. The Old Town district retains its historic buildings and is home to a collection of restaurants, galleries and independent stores. Annual cultural events such as the Colorado State University races and the Fort Collins Jazz Festival attract large numbers of visitors.
The surrounding natural landscape is rich with easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park for hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities. the Cache la Poudre River offers rafting and fishing opportunities, while the plains area east of the city is ideal for bird watching and hot air ballooning activities.
