São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Ford City, located in Kern County in central California, is a small, quiet farming community in the heart of the Central Valley, about 20 miles from Bakersfield. Founded in the early 1900s, the community was named for the early industries associated with the Ford Motor Company, and today is dominated by the cultivation of grapes, citrus, and other crops, with the area retaining a typical small-town Valley feel and a leisurely pace of life. Surrounded by rich oil resources, the local economy is supported by both the agricultural and energy industries. Despite its small population (approximately 4,000), the area has a strong community atmosphere, and the annual agricultural fair and local festivals attract neighborhood residents, making it an ideal place to experience rural life in the California Valley.
