São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Fanchi County is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province, under Xinzhou City, east of Hebei Province and north of Inner Mongolia, and is an important node at the junction of Jin, Hebei and Mongolia. With a total area of about 2,369 square kilometers and a population of about 270,000, the county has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons.
The history of Fanshi dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period, and it was named after "Fansheng Zhili". It is an important area of Buddhist culture, with part of the World Heritage Site of Wutai Mountain, including the famous ancient temples of Yanshan Temple and Princess Temple. The ruins of the ancient Great Wall of the Sui Dynasty and the Battle of Pingxingguan are also located here, combining military, religious and folk culture.
Fanshi has a magnificent natural landscape, including the Boqiang Ecological Scenic Area and the wetlands of the Hu Tu River, etc. It is a cool and pleasant place for summer vacation in summer. The local specialties of Fanshi yellow rice and Chinese herbs are famous nationwide, and the traditional paper-cutting and embroidery techniques are listed in the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
