São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Erguna is a county-level city located in Hulunbeier City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China, on the border between China and Russia, named after the Erguna River, which is the boundary river between China and Russia. With a total area of about 28,000 square kilometers, the city is sparsely populated and is characterized by multi-ethnic settlements of Mongolians, Russians and Han Chinese, preserving a rich nomadic culture and border customs.
Erguna is famous for its magnificent natural landscapes, including vast grasslands, wetlands and forest ecosystems, and is an important part of the Hulunbeier Grassland. Popular attractions such as the Erguna Wetland, Heiltou Border Crossing and the Russian Ethnic Township of Roomwei entice tourists to experience horseback riding, photography and cultural exchanges. The cool climate of the area makes it suitable for summer vacation travel, while the snowy plains can be enjoyed in winter.
As a historical and cultural city, Erguna blends Mongolian traditions with Russian influences and offers unique culinary and folklore experiences, making it an ideal destination for exploring the ecology and culture of China's northern border.
