São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, Daxi is a famous historical and cultural town in the northern part of Taiwan, known as "Taiwan's Little Kyoto". It is famous for its old street culture, traditional crafts and humanistic landscapes. The old streets of Daxi (such as Heping Road and Zhongshan Road) have preserved the street house buildings from the Japanese colonial period and the early Republican period, with red-brick arcades intertwined with wooden window panes, making a stroll through them akin to traveling back in time. Daxi is also a major religious and cultural town, with the Jaiming Temple flourishing for a hundred years, and the Daxi Lantern Festival held every year during the Lunar New Year is a well-known cultural event in Taiwan. In addition, the area is famous for traditional snacks such as tofu, taro cake, and peanut candies. Combined with the surrounding attractions such as Cihu Mausoleum and Daxi Mausoleum, the area has become a tourist attraction that combines both historical flavor and natural scenery, attracting many tourists to explore its unique local charms.
