São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the northeastern part of Guangdong Province, China, Tai Po County is a part of Meizhou City and is situated at the junction of Fujian and Guangdong Provinces, and is famous as the "Hometown of Overseas Chinese", "Hometown of Culture" and "Hometown of Ceramics". The county has a total area of about 2,467 square kilometers, mainly mountainous and hilly, with the Han River running through the whole territory, rich in natural resources and excellent ecological environment.
Tai Po has a long history and deep cultural heritage, with national cultural relics protection units such as Tai'an Building and Calyx Building, and the unique characteristics of the Hakka dragon house architecture. Hakka culture is the core of the area, and traditional folklore such as Guangdong Han music and Puzai fire dragons have been preserved. The ceramics industry has emerged since the Song Dynasty, and Tai Po blue and white porcelain is renowned both at home and abroad.
Tai Po is supported by agriculture, ceramic industry and tourism, and produces agricultural products such as honeydew and tea. Attractions such as the Sanheba Battle Memorial Park, Fengxi Forest Park and Baihou Ancient Town attract many tourists, making it an ideal destination for experiencing Hakka culture and eco-tourism.
