Overview of Sao Tome and Principe (note on "Java")

São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.

Cilaos, Reunion: a natural treasure in the Indian Ocean

Cilaos, a mountain town on the central plateau of the French overseas department of Reunion Island, located in the southwestern part of the Indian Ocean, is known for its magnificent natural beauty and unique cultural charms. Surrounded by the Mafat Gorge, the Brimbas Waterfalls and the Black River Gorge, the town boasts stunning hiking trails and is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. The mineral-rich geothermal hot springs in the area attract visitors year-round for healing and relaxation. Sirao is also known for its "three greats": deep canyons, cascading waterfalls and a pleasant climate with an average annual temperature of about 20°C and four seasons of spring. In addition, local specialties such as Lentilles de Cilaos (lentil stew) are not to be missed, and the annual Cilaos Festival in September showcases traditional music and crafts in a rich Creole culture.
