São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Castries is the capital and largest port city of St. Lucia, located on the northwest coast of the island in the northern part of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. With a rich colonial history and a strategic location once fought over by the French and the British, this mountainous city is now a multicultural center of national politics, economy and tourism. Known for its colorful French colonial architecture, bustling port trade and tropical climate, the city is surrounded by turquoise seas and sands and is a popular stop for cruise ships. Visitors can explore historic Fort Morgan, visit the Ballard Botanical Gardens, or stroll the picturesque coastal walkway to enjoy the unique charm of the Caribbean. As the gateway to St. Lucia, Castries offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a must-visit destination for a taste of the island.
