São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the east of England, Cambridge is the historic city of Cambridgeshire, famous for its world-leading Cambridge University. Situated on the banks of the River Sword, the city has a population of around 150,000 and blends medieval architecture with modern academic vigor.
Founded in 1209, the University of Cambridge boasts 31 colleges, such as King's College and Trinity College, and has produced scientific giants such as Newton and Darwin. The city hosts cultural festivals and rowing competitions throughout the year and has a strong academic scene.
Visitors can stroll along the River Sword, experience a boat tour and visit the famous Maths Bridge and Bridge of Sighs. Landmarks include the Gothic architecture of King's College Chapel and the art collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum.
Cambridge is dominated by the education and technology industries, and is at the heart of the 'Silicon Fen' high tech park, with a high cost of living but an abundance of green space for the academically and creatively minded.
