São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Bolans is a coastal village and town in the southwestern part of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, part of the parish of St. Mary's. It is adjacent to the famous Jolly Harbor Marina and Duckwood Beach, and is one of the key communities on the southwestern coast of the island of Antigua.
Bolands is situated on the southwestern coast of Antigua, approximately 15 kilometers from the capital city of St. John's. Known for its tranquil fishing village atmosphere, pristine beaches and easy access to water sports facilities, the local area is an ideal location to experience the traditional Antiguan way of life. The surrounding waters are suitable for recreational activities such as snorkeling and fishing.
The economy is based on fishing, small-scale farming and tourism. With basic amenities, schools and churches, the area retains the simple atmosphere of a Caribbean community. With the development of the Jolly Harbor Marina, Bolands is emerging as one of the hubs for yachts to dock and tourists to explore the west coast.
Visitors can sunbathe at Duckwood Beach or head to Jolly Harbor Marina to participate in a sailing tour. Antigua's famous coral reef formations are dotted around Bolands for diving enthusiasts to explore the marine life. Small cultural festivals are held annually in the area, showcasing traditional music and cuisine.
