São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the parish of St. Andrew in northeastern Barbados, Belleplaine is a quiet town on the island away from the hustle and bustle. Nestled in the picturesque Scotland region, it is known for its lush hills, cool climate and magnificent Atlantic coastline.
Belle Plaine is surrounded by some of the most pristine natural landscapes in Barbados, including the famous Andy's and Turner Hall Forests. The climate is cooler and more humid than the rest of the island, making it an ideal location for rainforest hiking and bird watching. Nearby Barclay Park is a popular recreational spot for locals.
The town is connected to the capital city of Bridgetown via the ABC highway, which is about a 40-minute drive. Belle Plaine retains a traditional Barbadian rural lifestyle, with a friendly community atmosphere and a local population that earns its living mainly from agriculture and tourism.
Visitors can experience true Caribbean village life, visit the nearby Morgan Lewis Windmill and Cherry Tree Hill, and enjoy the majestic waves of Barbados' east coast. Although not as bustling as the west coast, Belle Plaine offers a unique destination for travelers seeking a peaceful and natural experience.
