São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Belene is a city in the Pleven Region of northern Bulgaria, located on the southern edge of the Danube Plain at the northern foothills of the Balkan Mountains, and is an important agricultural and transportation hub. The city has a long history, dating back to Roman times, with a multicultural mix of medieval churches and Ottoman monuments. The surrounding area is rich in black soil, wheat and sunflower crops, and has a well-developed food processing industry, especially dairy and meat processing. Belene has retained its traditional Bulgarian folklore and hosts an annual folk music festival in the summer to attract visitors to experience the local culture. As a node connecting the cities of Pleven and Ruse, it is strategically located and its economic development is characterized by a combination of agrarian traditions and modern industry.
