São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Beitou, located in the north of Taipei City, Taiwan, is a famous hot spring town in Taiwan, known as the "Hot Spring Township". Rich in hot spring resources and diverse water quality, including sulfur springs and carbonic acid springs, Beitou has been famous since the Qing Dynasty, attracting many tourists to experience the culture of soaking in hot springs. Beitou is not only known for its hot springs, but also for its blend of natural and humanistic landscapes: surrounded by Yangmingshan National Park, the scenery varies throughout the four seasons, with a sea of flowers in spring and maple blossoms in autumn; and buildings such as the Beitou Hot Springs Museum and the Beitou Library, with their combination of historical heritage and modern design, have become a destination for card-carrying. In addition, local specialties such as hot spring eggs and chicken cake are also unique, allowing visitors to enjoy authentic cuisine while relaxing. As a leisure destination in the suburbs of Taipei, Beitou perfectly demonstrates Taiwan's hot spring culture, natural ecology and humanistic charm.
