São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Cantón de Puntarenas is the heart of Costa Rica's Puntarenas Province, with the capital city of Puntarenas, one of the country's most important port cities, situated on the Pacific coast. It is uniquely situated as a maritime hub that connects Costa Rica to the rest of the world, and its economy is based on port logistics, fishing and tourism. Long stretches of golden sandy beaches, such as Puntarenas, attract surfers and sunbathers, and seasonal whale-watching tours offer visitors the chance to encounter humpback whales and dolphins. The local culture is a blend of European, indigenous and African elements, with fresh seafood dishes such as ceviche and the lively "Puntarenas Carnival" offering a distinctly Caribbean flavor. As the starting point for exploring Costa Rica's Pacific Coast, Barva County is a must-see destination for tourists and businessmen alike, with its natural charm and human dynamism.
