São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Bălți is the largest city in the north of Moldova, the second largest city in the country, and is known as the "capital of the north". Located about 135 kilometers north of the capital, Chisinau, on the banks of the Recur River, a tributary of the Prut River, is an important industrial, transportation and cultural hub. The city's economy is dominated by machine building, food processing and textiles, with a number of large enterprises and agricultural research institutions. Balti has a rich cultural heritage, with a state university, music theater and history museum, St. Michael's Church and other historical buildings highlight its unique charm. As an important educational center in Moldova, it is home to a wide range of academic resources that contribute to the city's dynamism. The mild continental climate and pleasant urban environment make it a must-visit destination for exploring northern Moldova.
