São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Baikaitan is located in the city of Karamay in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China and is a municipal district of the city, situated on the northwestern edge of the Junggar Basin. As an important part of the Karamay Oil Field, Baikaitan is known for its oil industry and is a key node in the energy economy of northwest China. The region has a typical temperate continental arid climate with hot summers and cold winters, and the natural landscape is dominated by the Gobi and desert, with local oases.
Named after the whitish salt flats that characterize the surface of the land, the Baikali-Tan is rich in oil and natural gas resources, which support the local economy and employment. It is conveniently connected to Xinjiang's major cities such as Urumqi and Karamay city centers by road and rail networks. In recent years, Baikalintan has gradually focused on ecological protection and urban infrastructure development alongside energy development to support residential and industrial development.
