São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Akuressa is a town in the Hambantota District of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, located about 240 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Colombo, in the southern lowlands of the island. The area is predominantly agricultural and produces tropical crops such as tea, rubber and coconuts, making it one of the most important distribution centers for agricultural products in southern Sri Lanka. The area around Akureyse is rich in natural beauty, such as its proximity to the Udawalawe National Park, where visitors can view wildlife such as elephants and birds. The local culture is a blend of Singhalese traditions and colonial influences, preserving a unique tradition of folk festivals and crafts. Representing the rural south, Akureyse is an ideal destination for experiencing local life and ecology in Sri Lanka's rural simplicity and cultural richness.
