Istaravshan is a historic city in the Soghd province of northern Tajikistan, located about 200 kilometers north of the capital city of Dushanbe. The city has a long history of more than 2,500 years and was once an important trade and cultural hub on the ancient Silk Road. Its name means "place of pleasure", reflecting the pleasant natural environment of the region.
Istaravshan is known for its rich historical heritage, including ancient mosques, madrasas and traditional bazaars. The famous Mujtahid Khana Mosque and the Kokgumbazi scriptural academy showcase the fine art of Islamic architecture. The narrow streets and adobe buildings of the Old Town retain their medieval appearance and are listed as a potential World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The local economy is based on agriculture, handicrafts and tourism, with an abundance of fruits, nuts and traditional embroidery. Visitors can experience unique cultural festivals and hiking routes and explore the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding Fergana Valley. Istaravshan is becoming a popular destination for cultural tourism in Central Asia.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
