Hua Yuan County is located in the western part of Hunan Province, China, under Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, at the junction of Hunan, Guizhou and Chongqing provinces, with a total area of about 1,109 square kilometers. The county is characterized by minority cultures, with the Tujia and Miao ethnic groups accounting for more than 80% of the total population, preserving rich ethnic traditions, festivals and handicrafts.
Huayuan County is blessed with unique karst landscapes and natural landscapes, including the famous Border Town of Chadong (the prototype site of Shen Congwen's Border Town), the Grand Canyon of the ancient Miao River and Zixia Lake. It has an excellent ecological environment and rich mineral resources, especially manganese ore reserves, known as the "Oriental Manganese Capital".
The economy is mainly based on agriculture, mining and tourism, with specialty agricultural products such as oil tea and Chinese herbs. Huayuan is an important carrier of ethnic culture in western Hunan, with Miao drums, songs and embroidery listed as intangible cultural heritages, and traditional festivals such as "April 8" held every year.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
