Huaping County is located in the northwestern part of China's Yunnan Province, under Lijiang City, at the junction of Yunnan and Sichuan, with a total area of about 2,200 square kilometers. The county has a predominantly subtropical climate, with an average annual temperature of about 19.8°C.
