Located in the southwestern part of China's Anhui Province, Huaining County is part of Anqing City and is situated on the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The county has a long history of cultural richness and is the hometown of Cheng Changgeng, the originator of Peking Opera, and Deng Shiru, a calligrapher. Huaining is predominantly agricultural, producing rice, cotton and tea, while industry is developing rapidly, covering building materials, machinery and food processing. Transportation is convenient, with the Hejiu Railway and Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway running through the city, and Anqing Tianzhushan Airport is close by.
