Located in the north-central part of Anhui Province, China, Huainan is an important city in the Huaihe River Basin, famous for its coal resources, energy industry and history and culture. As a national important energy base, Huainan is rich in coal reserves and is known as the "Coal Capital of East China". Located on the south bank of Huaihe River, the city has a warm temperate monsoon climate with four distinct seasons.
Huainan is one of the birthplaces of Taoist culture, and legend has it that "Bakong Mountain" is the place where tofu was invented and the ancient battlefield of the Battle of Interfluo. It has cultural heritages such as Shouxian Ancient City and Bakong Mountain Scenic Spot, and the tofu-making tradition is listed as intangible cultural heritage. Local specialties include Bakong Mountain Tofu and Huainan Beef Soup.
In recent years, Huainan has promoted industrial transformation, developing coal-power integration, new energy and tourism. The city's transportation is convenient, with accelerated Hefei and Huaihua urbanization and a complete network of high-speed railways and expressways. As a member of the Hefei Metropolitan Area, it is actively integrating into the development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
