Located in the northern foothills of the Alaska Range, it is about 160 kilometers north of Anchorage, and relies on highways or small airplanes for transportation, and is often isolated from the outside world during the winter due to heavy snowfall. The area is characterized by pristine natural beauty, surrounded by vast coniferous forests, glacial rivers and wildlife habitats for outdoor adventure enthusiasts who want to hike, fish and see the Aurora Borealis. Sparsely populated and with a slow pace of life that retains the simplicity of interior Alaska, it is one of the hidden destinations for experiencing the polar wilderness and serene life.
