Hongya County is located in Meishan City, Sichuan Province, China, on the southwestern edge of the Sichuan Basin, a typical hilly and mountainous county. The county has a total area of 1,896 square kilometers and a population of about 300,000 people. Hongya is a national key ecological functional area, with a forest coverage of over 70%, known as the "Pearl of the Green Sea".

Hongya has famous scenic spots such as Waya Mountain National Forest Park and Liujiang Ancient Town. Waya Mountain is the second largest flat-topped table mountain in the world, known as "Noah's Ark above the clouds and mist", with rich flora and fauna resources and unique geological landscape. Liujiang Ancient Town, which has preserved the architectural style of western Sichuan houses from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, is one of the top ten ancient towns in Sichuan.

Hongya is rich in tea, bamboo shoots, Chinese herbs and other specialties, among which "Hongya vine pepper" is protected as a national geographical indication product.
