Located about 200 miles northeast of Denver and with a population of about 2,300, this small farming community is the center of the surrounding agricultural trade, with an economy dominated by wheat, corn, and sorghum farming and livestock. The area retains a typical western small-town feel, with historic buildings such as the Phillips County Courthouse (built in 1912) serving as landmarks, and the Phillips County Fair is an important community event that draws residents from around the area each fall.
