Hoima, Uganda: Hub City of the Western Region

Hoima, the capital of the Western Region of Uganda, is located in the west-central part of the country, about 225 kilometers from the capital, Kampala, and is the administrative, economic and transportation center of the west. The city is situated on the south-eastern shore of Lake Albert and is characterized by a savannah climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, which makes it suitable for agricultural development. The local economy is based on agriculture, producing coffee, cotton, corn and other crops, and in recent years has been attracting attention due to the exploration and development of petroleum resources. With a population of about 340,000 (2023 estimate), most of the inhabitants are from the Banyoro ethnic group and have a deep cultural heritage.
