Hequ County belongs to Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, China, and is located at the junction of Jin, Shaanxi, and Mongolia provinces and regions, and the northern section of the Jin-Shaanxi Canyon on the east bank of the Yellow River. The county covers an area of 1,327 square kilometers and has a population of about 140,000 people. The county is named after the unique curved channel of the Yellow River, and is known as the "Cocking Three Provinces".
Hequ has a long history of human activities as early as the Neolithic Age, and is one of the important birthplaces of the Yellow River civilization. It is the birthplace of the Shanxi folk song "Hequ Folk Song" and the national intangible cultural heritage "Hequ Er Ren Tai", and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Folk Art". The Xikou Ancient Ferry, the Protectorate Tower and other monuments bear witness to the historical memories of the Jin merchants who traveled to Xikou during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Hequ is rich in mineral resources, with 12 billion tons of coal reserves, and is an important part of Shanxi's energy and heavy chemical industry base. Agriculture is characterized by the cultivation of small grains and sea red fruits, and industry is dominated by the coal and electricity industry. In recent years, it has actively developed Yellow River eco-tourism, and created such special attractions as Niangniangtan and Longkou Water Conservancy Hub.
Located in the northeast edge of Loess Plateau, belongs to temperate continental monsoon climate. The Yellow River flows through the county for 76 kilometers, forming a unique canyon wetland ecology. There is the Yellow River Serpentine National Geopark in the county, which shows the geological wonders of the Yellow River channel change and has important ecological protection and scientific research value.
Located in the southeast of Hubei Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, Chibi City is a county-level city under the administration of Xianning Municipality, known as Puqi in ancient times, and was renamed in 1986 due to the "Battle of Chibi" in the Three Kingdoms.
