Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, is located on the country's central plateau at an altitude of about 2,350 meters and has a pleasant climate that has been described as the "Italy of Africa". The city is a blend of Italian colonial architecture and local culture, with a large number of well-preserved modernist buildings, including futuristic churches, Art Deco theaters, and colorful homes. An example of early 20th century urban planning, its historic center was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017. Asmara is not only a political and economic hub, but is also known for its unique cultural scene and laid-back pace of life, and is a window to explore Eritrea's history and diverse civilizations.
Cayman Brac, one of the three main islands of the Cayman Islands, is located in the northwestern Caribbean Sea and is known for its unique limestone cliffs and pristine natural beauty. The island is approximately 19 kilometers long and only 2 kilometers wide, but has a rich marine ecology and land landscape, is an ideal destination for diving, snorkeling and eco-tourism enthusiasts. Coral reefs line the island's 'Ironshore', attracting colorful schools of tropical fish and turtles, while Bluff Peak in the middle of the island, at 43 meters above sea level, is the perfect place to climb and see the entire island's coastline. Away from the hustle and bustle of the Big Island, Cayman Brac retains a peaceful and unspoiled atmosphere for those seeking a private vacation or exploring hidden secrets. While not as busy as Grand Cayman, the island's amenities include boutique resorts, local restaurants and dive centers, allowing visitors to enjoy nature while experiencing the friendly hospitality of the Cayman Islands.
