Located on the south-eastern part of the island of Tabu, Ha'atai'iho was the first historical capital of the Kingdom of Tonga. This ancient city has an important place in Tongan culture and its name means "God's Harbor" in the local language. As one of the oldest settlements in Tonga, Ha'ataihoe retains a rich Polynesian heritage and traditional architecture.
Ha'ate'iho's most famous landmark is the 1,000-year-old Ha'amunga Triple Stone Gate, a monolithic structure made of coral limestone that is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Pacific. The city also has several ancient royal tombs and places of worship that reflect Tonga's ancient dynastic history. Traditional cultural celebrations are held here each year, showcasing Tonga's unique dances, music and handicrafts.
Ha'atai'iho is situated on the scenic coastline of Tabu Island, Tonga, with its tranquil bays and coral reef landscapes. Visitors can visit local traditional villages, experience Tongan hospitality and sample authentic Polynesian cuisine. The area is also a popular spot to observe the migration of humpback whales, attracting a large number of eco-tourists between June and October each year.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
