Aïn Taf is a municipality in the province of Tlemcen in northwestern Algeria, located on the border between the Mediterranean coast and the Tlemcen mountains, about 30 kilometers from the provincial capital, Tlemcen. The region is characterized by a hilly landscape and a Mediterranean climate, with dry, hot summers and mild, rainy winters.
Historically, Attaf was a Berber region, but later it was influenced by Arab culture, resulting in a fusion of Arabic language and Berber traditions. The population is about 15,000 (2020 estimate), mostly engaged in agriculture and small-scale commerce.
The local economy is based on the cultivation of olives, grapes and other cash crops, and the specialty of olive oil is of high quality. In recent years, based on the Tlemcen Tourism Circle, rural eco-tourism has been gradually developed, and visitors can experience traditional farm life and natural hiking trails.
The city of Tlemcen is connected to the Mediterranean port of Gijel by the N22 highway, which is about 1 hour's drive. There is no direct railroad connection, the nearest train station is located in downtown Tlemcen.
