Anren County is a county-level administrative region under the jurisdiction of Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, China, located in the southeastern part of Hunan Province, at the western foot of the Luoxiao Mountains. It has a total area of 1,462 square kilometers and a population of about 430,000 people. As a humanistic town in southern Hunan, Anren has profound cultural heritage and ecological resources.
Anren is one of the birthplaces of Shennong culture, known as "Shennong's hometown". The custom of "Catching the Branch Society", which is held every year around the time of Qingming, has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage, combining the trading of medicinal herbs, farming culture and folklore activities, and has a history of 1,000 years. There are ancient architectural complexes such as the Tang Family House and the Sedan Chair House from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Anren has a subtropical monsoon climate and boasts natural landscapes such as Jiulongan National Forest Park and Dashi Scenic Area. Anren is now served by the Hengchaji Railway, and the Quannan Expressway runs through the whole county.
