Guadeloupe, France's overseas region in the Caribbean, consists of the main island of Basseterre, Grande Terre and the small island of Marie-Galante, combining French elegance with Caribbean vitality. It has an iconic twin-island landscape - the predominantly mountainous Basseterre and the gently sloping Grande Terre, with the Mount Pitre volcano (1,467 meters above sea level) as the highest point, surrounded by coral reefs and white sand beaches. As an overseas department of the European Union, the euro and French are commonly spoken, and culturally the Creole flavor is mixed with the French way of life, and the local cuisine is famous for its spicy stew (Colombo) and rum. Tourism is well-developed, featuring scuba diving, volcano hiking, and sugar cane plantation tours, making it an important tourist destination in the French West Indies.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
